Pakistani rugs are typically hand-knotted using fine wool, often on a cotton foundation, with exceptionally high knot counts. This density gives them a smooth, tightly packed pile that holds detail beautifully, but it also means dirt and grit can become deeply embedded and harder to flush out with a surface clean alone.
