The rug wash process required can differ from rug to rug, so we offer various methods of rug cleaning, from full immersion washing to dry cleaning. All rug fibres can be cared for – wool, cotton, silk, viscose, rayon. We can carry out a pet stain and odour treatment, moth treatment and apply a fibre protection to resist against soiling and staining. We have extensive experience with cleaning antique rugs and rugs with unstable dyes and offer a rug repair service, including fringes, sides and pile reweaving.

Pakistani Rug with Persian Design

Pakistani Persian or ‘Pak Persian’ rugs are, as the name suggests, rugs woven in Pakistan with a Persian design. This type of rug appeared during a time when America would not import any Persian rugs from Iran. This embargo created a gap in the rug market. So, eastern countries, such as India and Pakistan exploited the opportunity and produced many rugs with a Persian appearance. However the quality was somewhat less, but the rugs were generally well constructed and pleasing to the eye. The Pakistani rugs, which are still very commonplace today, have a distinct sheen (when clean) when looking with the lay of the nap. This is as a result of lustre washing after weaving, which smoothes the surface of the wool enabling the light to reflect. They are produced in three grades – A,B and C, with grade A being the superior. The knot count tends to be the same, irrelevant of the grade, but the higher quality rugs have a distinctly sharper, crisper finish to the design. The quality will fluctuate due to the expertise and experience of the weaver. Pak Persian rugs are one of the most common pieces that we wash and repair in our facility today, and continue to be very popular with our customers.

As with all hand knotted and machine made rugs, cleaning should never be attempted in the home using detergent based solutions which could compromise the dyes. Professional cleaning would be recommended to prolong the life and maintain the appearance of these wonderful pieces of floor art.

After trying rug cleaning companies that come to your home to clean my rug and never feeling fully satisfied with the clean I finally tried Oriental Rug Spa and I am so glad I did. Dan was great in providing information about the process and setting my expectations as it was going to be a challenging job. They did a fantastic job and my rug looks almost new! 100% recommend to anyone considering using their services. I will only use them for cleaning my rug in the future.

We have used a few cleaners for our rugs over the years and ORS rates as one the best. They did a great job of bringing back to life our grimy Titetan hall runner that had suffered from years of mucky shoes. The service couldn't be more personable which makes paying far less painful - even if it was reasonablly priced. Why 4 stars? Nobody gets 5.

I had two large Wilton rugs cleaned by this Company.
They were 19 years old and a little flat and slightly stained.
They came back totally renewed. The pile was lifted and
colours restored. I would recommend this Rug Spa.

Oriental Rugs were excellent.They arrived on time and provided 3 alternative estimates. We selected one there and then and the rug was taken away.

It was returned within the promised time frame and it is now back in position looking and feeling very much better.

I had three Turkish rugs cleaned and mended, and I’m really pleased with the service. The rugs were picked up from my home and then delivered back to storage, which was perfect as my house is being refurbished. Great communication throughout and very easy to deal with. The service from ORS was very professional and great value. Dan explained how he would treat my rug which has been a centrepiece in my homes for over 25 years. The results were beautiful. The sheen and colours have been restored and the pile is lovely and soft. The turnaround was timely and the premises were pretty straightforward to access. I'm delighted with their service.

Excellent service. The owner was very honest in his appraisal of a large stain on my Afghan rug. It was quite bad and he wasn’t sure it could be 100% cleaned. In the end He did a first class job. I Highly recommend this company. Repairing an oriental carpet isn’t cheap but the care and professionalism invested in a much loved and valuable carpet by Dan is definitely worth the outlay. What an amazing company. They were so excellent and easy to work with. Communication was really superb. We have to say it’s the best service we have had for a very long time. Instructions to wrap up the rug for the collection service was spot on. The rug looks great too and will be down on the floor again very soon.
We were flooded so there is enough stress and strain around you and to have a well organised company like Dan and his crew at Oriental Rug Spa was a total bonus. Thank you to all of you.
